Her name was Queen Dagmar. She came from Bohemia and was King Valdemar Sejr's admired queen. She died in the early 13th century. It was not until nearly 500 years later – in 1683 – that the cross was found in one of the royal graves in St. Bendt's church in Ringsted. It is submitted to the Royal Art Gallery and is assigned the story that it belonged to the popular Queen Dagmar.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eA small twist on the story, however, is that it is actually more likely that the Dagmarkorset belonged to Valdemar Sejr's sister, Richiza.
